And You Thought That Dragons Did Not Exist

And You Thought That Dragons Did Not Exist

The dragons started to exist during the medieval times. A dragon looks like a reptile fitted with claws, wings and scales. They live by hunting other animals to eat.

When you see a flock of flying objects do not just assume they are birds.Take a closer look because they might be a chain of dragons! People still think dragons are a toss up as some think they existed while some do not. I like dragons because they are a unique creature as they can breath fire and squirt water out of their nostrils.

Dragons patiently take care of their eggs by sitting on them to keep them warm till they hatch. Dragons can fly high in the sky with their pair of strong wings. Dragons lay one egg at a time. The bones of a baby dragon is as  long as a palm. The bones of an adult dragon is as big as a double decker bus . When fire comes out of the dragon's mouth it gives out a Kaboom sound. Dragons usually roar loudly when they are angry. A hungry dragon is like a hungry wolf fixed to no place. The evidence on the existence of dragons can be seen in museums. Dragons are commonly found in dungeons, caves  and in the plains. Due to major deforestation, dragons have left their homes. Now dragons are as scarce as hens teeth. Dragons can come in various colours like blue and green.

In conclusion, despite many saying about the non-existence of dragons, I still strongly believe in its existence. Dragons will continue to exist in me.

Persuasive Writing: College Students Should Have Complete Freedom to Choose Their Courses.

Persuasive Writing: College Students Should Have Complete Freedom to Choose Their Courses.

Students nowadays tend to feel highly pressured to do well in college. This is due to them choosing courses that are not suitable for their personality.

Parents, teachers and career counsellors can help to intervene and offer solutions to this common problem among the students. They can offer advice, give talks or make the students sit for a personality test. This approach helps the students understand themselves better. Parents can help by not forcing their children on courses they are not interested in because they should have freedom to choose what they want to do and has the power or talent to excel in. He who has lost his freedom has nothing else to lose.

The benefits of letting the student choose is them feeling positive that they are able to do it. There are a few students who choose the courses their parents want to do, a lot of them struggle both physically and mentally the course becomes a burden to the student. They get a head start on their career, and are not stressed out but relaxed.

Students who they let their parents choose their courses struggle and find the courses is a burden. This leads to depression as they fail to achieve their desired goals. A study by Siti Hanisha Mat of Yayasan Bank. 145 students the freedom who have to choose their courses, nearly all of them achieved -B to A for their results. As compared to those who were force to choose a course they dislike and scored B+.

Sometimes, the students will realise that the course does not suit them but they think that they can easily switch to others that suit them better. Their choice of courses are mainly due to peer pressure or from parent's expectations. However, little do they know that switching courses is a waste of both time and money invested by them and their parents. It is best that they seek guidance from the right people. These people include their teachers, career guidance counsellor and career coaches.

Once they start the course, they may find certain modules challenging however, it will not put them off because their ability lies in handling the subject matter with excellence. They will be self-motivated to study due to their natural interest and talent in it. So, the courses should not become a burden. This reduces the likelihood of the students to switch courses. Students who have excellent knowledge level in their area of ability could jump the academic year due to their good grades. With expenditure of the parents as well as the students' time and effort.

A student's career plan will be affected by the choice of this for example one will need to take up subjects that are relevant to be a doctor before taking a medical degree. The right subject or combination is important in order to gain entrance into the right faculty in the university will need to know them and not blindly follow courses chosen by their friends.

If they are honest to themselves they will know what they want and be able to choose out of the swarm of subjects. They should be determined on sticking their career plan and not be easily influenced by others. Students who get influenced by their peers. Many end up choosing the wrong one and result in either a failure or suited for a different family.

Personality factors should also be considered when choosing the right career. An introvert cannot be an entertainer for he is too shy to face the public. A warm and friendly character is needed to be a marketing person for a large network of people is needed to sell a product. If they choose a course that has nothing to do with their personality or interests it might be boring or challenging.

In conclusion, it is important to know one self well to be able to choose the correct courses for their future career  and be happy with one's career for life.

Cause and Effect Essay: Deforestation

Cause and Effect Essay: Deforestation

'Deforestation' means clearing of forests without replanting the deforested land anymore. It will
leave the land bare. Deforestation has negative effects on plants, human and the environment as a whole.

Deforestation involves cutting down of trees which results in animals losing their homes, rivers being polluted and resulting in depletion of the ozone layer. Deforestation takes place because of the growing population. New homes need to be built to house the growing nation. People can earn a lot of money just by selling cut trees. Orchards of trees can easily be cut down in seconds. Trees can be turned into furniture and boats. They can be sold off at very high prices. Aside from furniture and boats, wood is also needed to make stationaries. The government, illegal loggers and even the general public carry out deforestation either to earn a lot of money or for useful purposes.

It is important to have trees planted on land because the roots of the trees anchor the soil down. This helps prevent soil erosion especially on rainy days. The roots of the trees can protect the soil from flowing into the river, causing water pollution. When there is too much rainwater flowing into the river, the water level will rise causing flood to take place affecting the nearby homes. Mudslides happen when there are no trees to anchor the soil down. The rainwater will wash away the mud down the slopes.

Cutting down of trees to make way for modernisation or merely due to illegal logging, leads to the destroy of the natural habitat of many animals. Flocks of birds will have to migrate to a newer place that is suitable for them. If deforestation were to continue to take place, some of the animals may become extinct. It is very costly when flood occurs. The residents will have to flee to the highest spot like at the top of the hill and rooftops. This is to prevent their lives from being swept away by the strong current. A large number of houses will be destroyed. Orchards of trees will die. Childrens education will be interrupted. Electricity, water and food supplies will be cut off. The health of the people affected will deteriorate. The villagers will became like the drowning man who clutches at a straw. They are all in the same boat struggling with their lives. Their homes and rear are washed away.

As the villagers said, A burnt child dreads the fire,as they learned their lesson on the effects of deforestation. From their unforgettable experience on the flood, the villagers have come to a decision that after a thorough clean up of the aftermath, replanting the empty land will not only beautify the villages but also help to prevent flood.

Descriptive Essay: The Hospital's Emergency Room

Descriptive Essay: The Hospital's Emergency Room

People go to the emergency room because of heart attack, appendix burst, burn, acid attack  and more. The emergency room mainly handles emergency cases that need immediate attention.

The emergency room is as noisy as a menagerie. The nurses uniforms are as neat as a pin. the equpment in the emergency room is as clean as a dutch oven. The nurses in the emergency room are as busy as bees. Even when the cases are very serious, the doctors will carry through their work professinally and with much patience. The nurses will lend a hand to the doctor by handing over to the the nesessary  medical instruments to treat the patient. Outside the emergency room, there are usually many family members and friends waiting patiently for them. As the opening hours are 24 hours, hence many members of the public can be seen loitering around the area all the time.

In the emergency room, we can see a doctrine of doctors treating patient moaning "OOOWWW" and "Aww!" as they are terribly in pain. Some of the patients may need immediate X-rays. This is to help the doctors decide on whether the patients need immediate surgeries.

In conclusion, we cannot deny on the importance of the emergency room in the hospitals. As a member of a public, we benefit a lot from it's services. Let us all not abuse the emergency room.

Internet - The Highway to Knowledge

Internet - The Highway to Knowledge

The internet is a global network connecting millions of computers together. More than 100 countries are linked into exchanges of data, news and opinions through the Internet. It is used by 32.7 percent of the world's populations. Some people think that the internet is the most necessary tool which helps gain knowledge but others blame it for making people addicted.

Vint Cerf, widely known as 'The Father of the Internet' is the founder of the Internet. He began his work at the United States Department of Defence Advances Research Projects Agency (DARPA) playing a key role in leading the development of Internet and Internet-related data packet  and security technologies. Individual teaching techniques in students. Teachers can find lesson plans, practical support, information on the internet. The internet enables early education for children because they can learn by watching videos online and playing online games. Now anyone can look up for courses, enrol to online courses, research and even look for a job.

The disadvantages of internet usage seems to be a serious
problem in today's world. It causes addiction and breakdown of relationships as many people turn to their virtual worlds even in social gatherings. Danger lurks when getting to know strangers on social media network. Both the young and old seem to waste time by chatting or browsing websites that are not healthy.

Internet is highly accessible even from home, school, shopping mall. in moving cars and aeroplanes. It is accessible at all times.

In conclusion, the internet is a helpful source of knowledge despite the disadvantages of it. The internet has become apart of our lives that at the end of the day, we are dependent on it for information.
