Sir/Madam:

Complain on Building of a Shopping Mall in Hartamas View

I, Neoh Zhi Wen, a resident of Hartamas View, am writing on behalf of all the residents who also wish for the above mentioned plan to be stopped. The plan involves the tearing down of a playground to replace it with a shopping mall. The playground is located in Hartamas View residential area. A private company is taking over the plot of land.
I am very concerned about this matter due to several reasons. Firstly, although by building the shopping mall can help to increase employment rate and create convenience for the residents, the disadvantages outnumber the advantages. For example, the building of the mall will bring about air and sound pollution to the residents, harming the residents' health as dust are breathed in and the noise will disrupt the tranquility of the area. Additionally, the increase in traffic in and out of the mall can add up to the air and sound pollution. Secondly, this will not only harm us, it would also harm the natural environment. More trees will be cut down to make way for the mall. Then the residential area will turn to a concrete jungle.
By keeping the playground, it brings many advantages. The playground is essential in the character-building of our children. They need to spend their leisure time healthily, instead of sitting at home playing with physically passive games on the iPad or iPod. Children can also keep fit with the facilities provided, decreasing obesity rate in the country. Children will also learn to strengthen the bond with their parents and neighbours. In addition, it is a much better social network among the children rather than doing it virtually in websites like Facebook and Twitter.
The repercussions mentioned on the building of the mall in Hartamas View will bring more harm than good to everyone. I would like to propose for the shopping mall to be built in Kota Damansara, for there are not many residential areas there. Besides, Kota Damansara has a huge land space to accommodate a huge shopping mall.
We seek your kindness and cooperation to consider our plight and take immediate action. Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Neoh Zhi Wen

Resident of Hartamas View
