Dr. Louann Brizendine |
The following are the reasons of why girls mature faster than boys. Firstly, females reach their puberty stage at the age of ten to thirteen, two years earlier than males. Secondly, women use both sides of their brain, which is beneficial to being mature earlier, in contrast to men, who tend to use one side of their brain. This statement is supported by Dr. Louann Brizendine's research, which is stated in her book, "The Female Brain". She is an American scientist, a neuropsychiatrist who is both a researcher and a clinician, whose research fields are mainly on female emotions and hormones. "The Female Brain" states that the hippocampus, the emotional memory controller is twice as big in girls than boys in their early teens. This is why girls and boys in their early teens emotionally react differently in the same situation, as girls are able to sense emotional gestures during conversations and boys do not have the ability yet.
From ABC news, early maturation for girls will develop their romantic instincts, which will guide her to men, so they can protect the girls. On the other hand, boys mature slower to increase their capability to protect the girls. This is another evidence that girls mature faster than boys.
In conclusion, from the above evidences, it has proven that girls mature faster than boys.
