2.Re-read the description of:

a) The trees and the undergrowth in the paragraph 2, beginning 'the river seemed...'
b)The monitor lizard and the Brahminy kite in paragraph 4. beginning 'We stopped by...'

Select words and phrases from the description, and explain how the writer has created effects by using language.

The trees were very high as described in the phrase "the 60-meters-high tree." The phrase "endless chaos" tell us that there is no order in the forest. "There is every kind of green in the forest". Tells us that there are many shades of green in the forest. The amount of sunlight that penetrated between the leaves was explicitly described in the phrase "uniform glare of a tropical sun."The soil is fertilise so plants can easily and healthy grow anywhere as described in the phase "sprouted everywhere." The creepers grew healthily as described in the phase "creepers as thick as legs. The author described the monitor lizard's eyes as dinosauric to show how big and terrifying they were. The Brahminy kite was flying really fast as read from the phase "hear the rush of air". The bird had a flecked-brown belly that was white in the sunlight as described in the phase " Flecked-brown belly white in the sun." The bird's chirping was loud and sharp as described in the phase "mewing its shrill call.
