Journal Entry on Adventure with Ariana Svenson

Journal Entry on Adventure with Ariana Svenson

Journal Entry #52
We are now on a boat going home and I must say that this journey had been hectic yet amazing at the same time. This adventure has had many ups and downs and there had been times when I just thought that this journey was horrible but in the end it had all been worth it. I was to see the Peru’s national bird, the cock of the rock, but to know that I have had the privilege to be able to see it from the country where it originated. We had to cycle for hours just to get to the destination to see it. There have been many good experiences that made me enjoyed the trip but there were also many bad experiences too.

Let’s start with my bad experiences from the trip. Firstly, the weather was miserable. On the first day it was hailing and we had to cycle for three hours in the hail we were cold, wet and feeling numb all over our body. Next we had to wait for a bus for two days hoping that we could take our journey further. It was a boring wait. To pass the time we manages to create some pleasant conversations with some strangers. The good experience that I had from the trip was to be able to see the pretty farmlands, groups of eucalyptus trees and herds of cattle and sheep when riding downhill from Colquepata. To be able to cycle during the trip gave us the golden opportunity to see the cock of the rock birds doing their mating dance which was amazing.

Overall, I really enjoyed the trip although it came with its ups and downs. It had been an unforgettable experience.
