Summary of Kingdom of Bhutan
Bhutan is located in the continent of Asia near Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and India. Bhutan is ruled by kings; the latest being king Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck. He is one of the youngest monarchs in the world because he is only thirty-one years old. He attended Oxford University to read politics and international relations.
The country is governed by an old hat system. They are still using the monarchy system to rule the country. The monarch is over one hundred years old. The people are as poor as dirt because their income level is very low. Despite their low economy they are stillhappy as a pig in shit because they are not materialistic. Bhutan believes in the philosophy of “Gross National Happiness” (GNH). The currency used in Bhutan is Bhutan Ngultrum.
Bhutan might be a drop in the bucket but is rich in historical events. Although Bhutan is an impoverished kingdom you should not judge a book by its cover because Bhutan is rich in Buddhist culture and events. Bhutan was isolated to outsiders because they wanted to guard their ancient traditions. One of the festivals in Bhutan are the black necked craned festivals which is an occasion for locals to rejoice and celebrate the arrival of the heavenly bird. Charten Kora festivals is basically a memorial for a dead man. The traditional Bhutan cuisines are ‘Ema Dutshi’ and ‘Kewa Phugshu’. The national dress is a knee-length wrap-around ‘gho’ for men and an ankle length dress known as a ‘kira’ for women.
Bhutan has a range of mountains. These groups of mountains can be found at the border of Bhutan. Tourists like to visit Bhutan because they believe the grass is always greener on the other sideof the hill.
Bhutan is a beautiful country rich in culture and picturesque sceneries. It is a place where the country is not graded by its economy level but by knowing how happy the people in their country are. I would recommend to visit Bhutan for yourself and enjoy everything the country has to offer.
