A monkey stole my rootbeer!

Last Sunday afternoon ,my friends and I went to the circus. When we arrived ,we saw a trapeze, clowns, parrots and some horseback riders. A few minutes before the show started, my friends and I decided to roam around. I wanted to see all the performers backstage. We went to the back of the circus and we saw troops of monkeys and a stable full of horses.
I saw a few monkeys juggling behind a marque. The monkeys stood till and stared at me. One of the monkeys climbed up to the ceiling and swung its arms towards my can of drink which i was holding on to. It was one of the performer's monkeys. Most probably it was curious when it saw me drinking off the shiny can. I was in a daze when the monkey snatched it away. When he had come forward to snatch the shiny can, i fought fire with fire and pulled back but the monkey was stronger. I screamed "Ouch!" when the monkey took the can away from me because his fingernails scratched my knuckles. The monkey ran away quickly with the can. I laughed when I realized that the monkey could not drink off the can. He did not know how to tilt it to let the drink flow into its mouth, so it bit off more than it could chew.As I started to run after it, the monkey started to run away. It probably felt scared when I started to chase after it. It should not have taken my drink because it was barking up the wrong tree. I chased it round and round the marque.
As I was chasing after it, it threw the can at the mirror in the dressing room.the can hit the mirror and the mirror broke into tiny pieces with a crash. The monkey then picked up the can of drink and ran away again. My friends and I split up, trying to find it. After about five minutes of running, I saw the monkey again. It was with the other monkeys.
I asked my friends to stop chasing after it. In the end the monkey just drummed its head in frustration and my friends and I laughed. It reminded me of the proverb, 'He who laughs last, laughs longest.'. From this lesson I learned that I should not be so careless with my belongings in the future. I think that from this incident, the monkey learned that he should not steal. My friends and i then realized that we were late for the show. Without wanting to waste anymore time, we quickly left the monkey there and hurried to the show.
